Our admission process consists of two phases. In Phase 1, applicants must undergo an audition, complete a placement test, and participate in an in-person or online interview. Upon successful completion of Phase 1, applicants may proceed to Phase 2.

Admissions Phase 1

The following tests will form part of Phase 1:

1. Auditions

Families with children aged 9 to 15 are required to fill out the audition inquiry form. Our recruitment team will contact both the children and their parents or guardians to schedule audition dates and additional assessments. These evaluations include musical memory, vocal tone quality, intonation, range, velocity, and overall musical aptitude.

2. Placement Test

The Academic Department will conduct a placement test to evaluate the student’s academic abilities and skills.

3. In-person or Online Interview

During an in-person or online interview, applicants and their parents/guardians will have the chance to engage with select staff members overseeing the applicant’s continuous growth. (All auditions will adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of 2013). All personal data and assessment outcomes are securely stored in an electronic database.

Admissions Phase 2

For Phase 2 of the admission process, successful completion of Phase 1 is a prerequisite. During this stage, applicants and their parents/guardians are warmly invited to participate in an Open Weekend at the Academy’s location in Stellenbosch. This event entails a group audition for all applicants and carries considerable significance, aiding parents/guardians and applicants in confirming their decision to join the Cape Choral Academy.

Within two weeks following the conclusion of the Open Weekend, letters of acceptance will be sent out to successful applicants.
